The bishop nominating sub-committees have continued to work diligently over the last month and here are their latest progress updates as at May 31. You will notice that some of the committee’s work has been completed and, as such, progress from certain subcommittees is no longer provided.
Profiling: Five copies of printed profiles were sent to all church entities of the diocese. The work of the profile subcommittee is complete.
Nominating and Screening: We completed initial process of paper screening of submissions of candidates who have discerned a call to become our fifth bishop. We all met on April 21 and following a day long prayerful discernment, candidates were selected to move on to video interviews. In addition, we received some interest in the call from younger members of the church (see above photo).
Online Interviewing and Retreat: The whole bishop nominating committee was split into interview teams, and online interviews with our top candidates were completed by the end of May. The members of the nominating committee will review each of the recorded interviews. We will gather in late June to discern which candidates should be invited to the October retreat.
Educating and Communicating: We continue to support other committees in sending diocesan-wide announcements, links to sub-committee documents, and regular progress reports.
